Eat Up! – The Loveless Motel and Café

You’ve probably heard about the Grand Ole Opry, and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum isn’t exactly a hidden treasure, but do a little more digging and you’ll find that the real reason to visit Nashville, Tennessee is to eat at the Loveless Motel and Café.

A Nashville staple since 1951 and today best known for the many appearances of larger-than-life cook Carla “The Biscuit Lady” Fay Ellison, the Loveless Motel and Café is purported by many to have the nation’s, if not the world’s, very best fried chicken and biscuits, and they’re serving them up nearly all day, every day.

The restaurant has changed hands several times since Annie and Lon Loveless purchased the place in 1951, but the menu of sensational southern home-cooking classics has stayed mostly the same, especially when it comes to the from-scratch biscuits which have garnered so much acclaim over the years.

Nashville, Tennessee Dining

The Loveless Café is definitely no secret. Thanks in part to the star power of Carla Fay (see her in action here), the popular Nashville restaurant has found its way onto countless TV programs, including most recently CMT’s “Gone Country” and the Food Network’s “THROWDOWN! with Bobby Flay”.

It may not be the only reason to go to Nashville, but it’s reason enough!

Now, despite the name, the Loveless Motel and Café does not actually run a motel anymore, so instead we recommend the Holiday Inn Select Nashville – Opryland Airport Hotel. A convenient location and complimentary airport shuttle is a plus for any vacation.
