The boys and girls of Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington, Inc. claim that this riverfront city in North Carolina is among the most haunted in the nation. While they might be a bit biased, there’s no doubt that historic Wilmington, NC is a unique, scenic and all-round groovy place to take a nighttime stroll.
Spanish moss dangling from the branches of ancient oaks, mysterious fog blanketing the gravesites and pale moonlight casting every steeple in ominous shadow – the atmosphere of Wilmington at night is truly unlike any other.
The dedicated actors and ghost hunters of Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington host nightly 90-minute tours throughout the oldest districts in Wilmington, including buildings and alleys that are over 275 years old.
For a little more humor with the scares, not to mention a rowdier, adults-oriented crowd, the group also hosts what it calls the Haunted Pub Crawl. This 2.5 hour tours take you to four or five of Wilmington’s most haunted pubs, with plenty of hilarious stories and opportunities to put a few back along the way (must be 21).

For downtown Wilmington lodging, we like the Hilton Wilmington Riverside. It’s pet-friendly and located on the Riverwalk. Or for something a little nicer, you could try the Hilton’s sister Wilmington lodging, the Riverview Suites at Water Street Center. The Riverview offers fully-equipped suites with free access to the Hilton for out-of-room amenities.

I have been on a lot of ghost walks and agree it is probably the most haunted city I’ve ever been in.

I never thought I will agree with this opinion, but you know… I agree partially now…
