Haunted History Tours – Alexandria, Virginia
We gave you the American history, why not check out the haunted history?
Similar to our previously featured Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington, the Alexandria Colonial Tours company has spiced up its assortment of traditional history tours with a groovy ghosts and graveyards adventure for the whole family. Your guide, decked out in full 18th-century colonial wear, takes you through the historic sights of Old Town with only moonlight and a small lantern to lead the way.
During this one-hour tour of Alexandria’s oldest buildings, streets and alleys, your guide will tickle your spine with mysterious ghost stories, legends, folklore, unsolved mysteries and tales of romance gone wrong. At the evening’s conclusion, your once-trustworthy guide will then abandon you in a graveyard.
The whimsical hauntings of Alexandria have not gone unnoticed. Their most famous story, the troubled 19th-century love of Laura Schafer and Charles Tennesson, was actually recreated by company guides for an episode of the Travel Channel’s “Weird Travels”. Learn the tale first-hand on this very tour.
Adult tour admission is $10, children are welcome. Due to popularity, reservations are recommended. Learn the details here.
Hmmm, gave you the Holiday Inn last time, so let’s mix it up with another dependable choice, the Crowne Plaza Old Town - Alexandria. Among Alexandria, VA hotels, I like the Crowne Plaza for a moderately upscale, affordable luxury kind of stay. Complimentary airport shuttle, too.
