One thing you have to accept when choosing a dude blogger is that you’re not going to get a lot of wedding coverage. I’m already married, I already went through it. One thing I do like, though, is a good deal, and in times of the economic herky-jerks, you can find great ones in surprising places.
Hotels, for example. As travel wanes the world over, hotels turn to their event services to help make their numbers, and that means extra value to the event planner. Looking over some of our favorite properties, we’ve found a solid deal for you Chicago wedding planners: the Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown / Magnificent Mile.

Chicago’s Magnificent Mile is all about dreams come true, with luxurious hotels, glamorous boutiques and fine restaurants everywhere you turn. It’s no wonder that it’s one of the most popular Chicago wedding venues. Now, the Hilton Garden Inn Chicago is finally making that dream affordable with their new “Magnificent Mile Wedding” package.
This full-service package includes the works, which is a nice convenience for an area that typically upsells every last detail. Speaking of details:
- Custom Catering: Executive chef will develop a custom menu to fit your taste and budget. In other words, you save money by paying for only what you want, not some flat rate that doesn’t make any sense for your reception. Several service styles are available.
- Catering Service: 4 hours open bar, hors d’oeuvres, dinner service, wine service, champagne toast, custom wedding cake prepared and served.
- The Space: Largest room accommodates receptions of 300.
- For the Newlyweds: Complimentary one-bedroom suite with breakfast for two the next morning.
- Discounts: Out-of-town visitors may stay at the hotel at a discounted rate.
- Convenience: Planners may create a personalized online group wedding page with their attendees to view information and updates and reserve rooms.
Also, if you book your wedding for Friday or Saturday, they’ll chop an additional 15% off the top of the already discounted per-person rates. I’m no wedding expert, but I work with a lot of hospitality veterans. This is a good deal, especially for the rather, ahem, magnificent location.

Alright, enough of that. I’ll be back soon with manly stuff about explosions and fire!

A very well written piece. This however is the upper end of the market. What about the smaller budget. There are a lot of us around these days.
