So you’re not going to find tickets to the Frozen Four – that is the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship – unless you want to spend some very big money on some very scalped merchandise. If you came here for tickets, I don’t have them.
What I do have is a great place for you ticket-holders to stay while visiting our Nation’s Capital for the much-anticipated event: the Phoenix Park Hotel. Five blocks to the Verizon Center (that’s walking distance, by the way), historic pub on site, affordable packages, and a famous clientele – it’s a good deal and a good idea for fans who love their hockey and also love to live every vacation to the fullest.
But let’s step back (got to make that word count, after all):
The Frozen Four, named after college basketball’s “Final Four”, refers collectively to the two semifinal games and the championship game of the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship. The tournament involves four teams, from an original sixteen, who survived a single-elimination contest in their region. The winners of each semifinal game will then face off in the championship. After the contest, the Hobey Baker Award is presented to the top player in NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey.
Because the tournament doesn’t begin until March 27, we don’t know the teams yet. Regardless the NCAA Frozen Four will be played on April 9 and 11, 2009 at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. Learn more about the Center here.
For hotels near the Verizon Center, we love the Phoenix Park (it is our favorite in DC, after all). If it’s your first time in DC, combine your trip with the “DC Tour Package” or any of their specials. Maybe I’m biased, but if you visit DC and all you see is a good slap shot, you’ve missed out dearly.
Have fun!
