Spring Break 2009 Beach Vacations – Singer Island, Florida

Beach Family

Spring Break 2009 has gone for some, is ongoing for others (it’s that time here in Dallas), and for many more is still eagerly-anticipated. As the weeks dwindle we’ll try to throw out a few final ideas for Spring Break. Enjoy!

Spring Break beach getaways have a certain … reputation. Empty kegs, skimpy bikinis, debauchery everywhere you look. Don’t get me wrong, I dig it. But the staff here at USA Travel Guide would like our audience to know that beach-bound families have plenty of options as well.

Due to the price barrier, all-inclusive resorts in Mexico or the Caribbean tend to keep the college crowd away, so if you’ve got the scratch, have at it. However, you can also find beaches here in the States that manage to provide plenty of springtime fun without succumbing to MTV-ism. The tranquil resort beach of Singer Island, Florida is a prime example.

With the smooth, soft beachfront of Singer Island lined with upscale resorts and private accommodations, this is no college hangout. That makes it all the better for those with elementary-to-middle school children planning to hit the beach this year for Spring Break.

The beach is the main attraction, and the water’s fine for any number of popular activities: swimming, surfing, boating, jet skiing, parasailing, just to name a few. However, like all great family destinations, the real value is in the variety. Here’s a quick list of popular Singer Island and West Palm Beach attractions:

Options for Singer Island vacations resorts abound, but we recommend the Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort. Kids programs and a “Kids Are King” Package make the Hilton a more family-friendly choice than most other resort hotels in the area, and the prices tend to stay competitive throughout the year.

Thanks very much for the list. We’ve just moved to the Palm Beach Gardens area and have been quickly discovering the terrific family-focused activities of the Palm Beaches. Your article pointed out a few hidden gems we haven’t discovered yet, so we’re using it as a checklist for our family, and all the family visitors who are sure to descend on us this coming Fall/Winter tourist season. Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback, Eric. I’m glad to hear the suggestions are working out for you.

We actually run a hotel blog just for the Hilton Singer Island and we focus on the Palm Beach and South Florida area exclusively, so you’re likely to find even more useful tips there.

It’s a much younger blog, but it’s starting to pick up steam now.

We call it South Florida Travel Guide.
