Spring Break Beach Vacations – Redondo Beach, California

Ah, Redondo Beach.

Million-dollar homes, yachts blanketing the horizon, shimmering sand, crystal blue water and, come Spring Break time, a vibrant college-aged community looking for a great time. Parents look away – it’s time for a real Spring Break beach vacation.

Redondo Beach, California is similar to most other West Coast beach cities near Los Angeles – Manhattan Beach, Venice Beach, Hermosa Beach, Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, Marina Del Ray, you name it – but it has its advantages.

For one thing, maybe no other city in California better exemplifies the “beach lifestyle”. From the rows of tan bodies lounging along the beachfront to the platinum-haired surfers tearing up the waves with their “brahs”, Redondo Beach is all about soaking up the sun, having some fun and taking it easy. Surfing is the unofficial sport, and a competitive game of beach volleyball is never hard to find.

During the day, the beach is where you want to be. See, be seen, meet some new friends, and put your game plan together for a killer night. During the busy Spring Break season, early to mid-April, the local bar and club scene swells with energetic students cutting loose, and we say follow their lead. There’s no telling where it’s going down that night, so do your homework during the day. Ask around the beach, and you’ll have no trouble getting the scoop.

If you need a break from all the surf and sizzle, there’s plenty more to do: golfing, shopping, sightseeing Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Catalina Island, concerts, even whale watching.

Tip: Because of uneven public transportation service to the beach cities (not to mention the hassle), you’ll want to strongly consider renting a car unless you plan to spend the entire trip on the beach. It’ll cost a little more, but you’ll save so much by way of time and effort that it’ll be well worth it.

Our choice in Redondo Beach hotels is always easy. Stay at the Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach and Marina Hotel. You can walk to the beach, hop a free shuttle to local shopping malls and take advantage of their cool beach vacation packages.

I’ve been visiting your blog for a little while now and I always find something interesting in your posts, thanks for sharing.

I run a related blog and recently was quoted saying…

Those of you who are looking to get away with a husband or wife would find the Maui to be the perfect beach vacation. Located in Hawaii, Maui is one of the most romantic beaches in the world. Also well known for honeymoons, Maui offers you plenty of breathtaking beaches with plenty of other things to do as well.
