This year on America’s Got Talent they had a performer do an impression of President Barack Obama doing an impression of Jamie Foxx doing an impression of Ray Charles. That’s kind of what Disneyland at Halloween is like. You get what you get, and then you get some more.
(And before you say it’s too early for Halloween, just beware that some of this stuff can and will sell out. It’s never too early to get tickets.)
Over the next few weeks we’ll be featuring some favorite Halloween haunts, but I figured we’d start at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, where you can bet they go big on the ole’ Halloween classics. After all, this is the site of the original Haunted Mansion. It inspired an unfortunate Eddie Murphy movie, but we’ll let it slide.

The official program is called Halloween Time, and this year’s theme is “Chillin’ with the Villains.” Along with all the favorite Disney characters, your Mickeys and your Snow Whites, the streets of Disneyland will be overrun with classic villains. And really, it’s always the villains that are more fun anyway. Except for Gaston. That guy was a tool.
In the spirit of the holiday, the whole park costumes up for Halloween Time. Several rides sport a new, spooky décor and some even feature a modified experience just for the occasion. Attractions likely to bring the crowds are Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, a themed revamp of the classic coaster, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and most definitely the Haunted Mansion Holiday, hosted by Jack Skellington and the other mischief-makers of Halloweentown.
If you’ve got kids in tow, consider a visit to Mickey’s Trick-or-Treat Party. This special, limited-admission event takes place at sister park Disney’s California Adventure. On select nights, children and their parents are invited to come in full costume to eat plenty of snack, watch live entertainment and hangout with fully-costumed cast of Disney characters. (See, so the actors are dressed up as something dressed up as something else. You get it? Ah, never mind.)
Mickey’s Trick-or-Treat Party has a unique early admission price of $32 on select dates. Attendance is limited and popular, so buy early. Learn about this event.
Halloween Time at Disneyland runs from September 25 – November 1, 2009. Regular admission prices. Learn more.
For hotels near Disneyland in Anaheim, California, we like the Holiday Inn Anaheim Resort Hotel. It’s just moments from the park, and the hotel offers park ticket packages to go along with your stay.
Have fun this Halloween.
