Sounds like a show on TLC or Discovery doesn’t it? “Mega Malls!” Now we just need to think of something for them to fight. “Mega Malls vs. Laser Squids!” Now that’s a show.
We don’t cover shopping destinations on USA Travel Guide too often, and when you think about it, by covering the Mall of America in the Twin Cities suburb of Bloomington, Minnesota, we’re still not.
Oh sure, you can shop at the MoA. It has some 500+ stores, boutiques and service outlets retailing just about everything. But when you think Mall of America, you don’t think, “Sweet, I hope they have clogs,” you think, “That’s the one with the rollercoaster inside, isn’t it?”

Yes, yes it is.
Thus, USA Travel Guide heads to the Mall of America not as a shopping center, but as a top-notch family entertainment destination. Put on your walking shoes, save the shopping for the end, and prepare for fun.
Things to Do at the Mall of America
People yell at me when the blogs go on for a thousand words, so this list will be far from comprehensive (if you can believe it):
- Nickelodeon Universe® – the big one, literally. Nick Universe® is the nation’s largest indoor theme park and is the attraction that makes the mall famous.
- House of Comedy – if you’re performing comedy at the largest mall in the nation, does that mean you’re winning or losing as a comedian?
- Amazing Mirror Maze – a newer attraction, the path through the perception-defying maze seems endless.
- Moose Mountain Adventure Golf – have your own Happy Gilmore moment in this 18-hole miniature golf course
- A.C.E.S. Flight Simulator – hi-tech flight simulators may create disdain for your home joystick
- Underwater Adventures® Aquarium – the “world’s largest underground aquarium”, oh really, I thought that was the ocean!
Plus an American Girl® store, movie theatre, butterfly habitat, shows and lots of dining to boot. You can easily spend days getting everything there is to get out of the Mall of America – it’s like a vacation in and of itself.

You could find hotels in Minneapolis, MN that are closer to the MoA, but we like the Crowne Plaza St. Paul, and for the joy of staying somewhere we love, we’ll almost always spend the extra mile or two. The downtown St. Paul location is handy – you can walk to most dining and entertainment attractions in the area. On top of that, the property exudes a quaint luxury that you sometimes get out of Crownes. Never fussy, but always a cut above.
Have days of fun at the Mall of America in Minnesota.

First of all, Laser Squids would probably win. Secondly, the does the Nickelodeon Universe have slime-related attractions?
