AMA Supercross Championship in Las Vegas

It’s been a dirty and dynamic Supercross season, and with only five races left in the circuit, we’ve already got our eyes on the prize. Houston, St. Louis, Seattle and Salt Lake City still have matches on the docket, but we’re headed straight for Las Vegas and the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship Shootout.

All the trips, tricks and trials of the past 3 months will finally come to a head on May 8th at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here the AMA Supercross Class Champion will be decided in the longest and most difficult race of the season.

2009 Lites West Champion Ryan Supercross - Photo by Frank HoppenDungey has watched his once-colossal lead slip by race after race as gingerly Ryan Villopoto continues to nab surprise 1st place victories. (Only 21 points separate the two going into this Saturday’s match-up in Houston).

With Josh Hill hanging way back in third place, the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship has really become a two-man race.

The riders’ fates are out of your hands, of course. What you can do is get the most of your Supercross experience and your Las Vegas vacation. The main event starts at 7:00 p.m., but don’t for a minute think of rolling up just in time (for one thing, the parking will kill you). The Pit Party opens early at 12:30 p.m., and true SX fans won’t want to miss it. Along with loads of swag to collect, you’ll have the chance to get autographs from the riders, snap photos with the Supercross models and maybe even meet Miss SX.

Now that’s a super day of Supercross.

The AMA Supercross Championship will be raced at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 8th, 2010. Tickets are on sell now. Group discounts, a family section, and special offers are available, so peruse your options carefully. Learn more here.

Of course, Supercross is one day of action, but that’s no reason to stay right next to the stadium. We recommend staying close to the Strip and travelling in to Sam Boyd Stadium for the festivities. You’ll be glad you did.

One of the newest hotels in Las Vegas, the Holiday Inn opened just the past December and offers interesting niche for Sin City travelers. It’s located less than half a mile from the Strip, really no trouble at all, but still far enough away to deliver that off-Strip peace and quiet that so many seem to want. Just a great all-purpose Las Vegas hotel (free parking, too!).

Have fun at the AMA Supercross Championship Shootout in Las Vegas.
