With so many things to do in Orlando, Florida, even an upside-down museum can get lost in the shuffle. Therefore, in order to retain my nerd cred, today we bring you one of my favorites: Wonderworks, the amusement park for your mind.
Okay, in all fairness, the attraction only looks upside-down, the building itself taking the façade of a stately mansion upended, but that’s not to say that Wonderworks is any more ordinary once you step inside. Part amusement park, part science museum, part something else completely, Wonderworks is a family-geared entertainment center featuring over 100 interactive exhibits, some educational, some just fun.

Taking the guise of an abandoned science lab (specifically a mad science lab), most of Wonderworks exhibits are scientific experiments that you have a chance to participate in.
The scope is incredible: you can have fun with blue screens, play some sports, check out a virtual reality console, lay on a bed of nails, make ridiculously humongous bubbles, press your whole body into a giant Pin Art device, control a simulated space shuttle landing, experience an earthquake and even ride a roller coaster. That’s not close to one hundred things, so of course there’s plenty more.
Additional exhibits include a massive video arcade, the old-school kind with tickets and prizes, and there’s even a Lazer Tag arena (that’s Lazer with a “z”, it’s a brand name). Unseen by me, but well-received by local outlets, is the Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show. At $24.95 per adult, I’ll leave the choice up to you. I can’t vouch for it either way.
Wonderworks is open daily and offers a wide selection of ticket packages (museum-only, museum + show, museum + lazer tag, etc.). As you throw more on your ticket, the value for money improves significantly, so do consider a combo ticket. Wonderworks is located on Orlando’s bustling International Drive. Web site.
